Patients must have a current and valid prescription from a physician.  

If you believe that you may be eligible for help with your prescription medication, please call us at 828.697.8422.  We can screen you on the phone to let you know how we may be able to assist you.

Pharmacy Hours

TFC Community Pharmacy has resumed its normal open hours as of June 22, 2020:

  • Monday: 12:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Tuesday: 4:30pm-7:30pm
  • Wednesday: 9:00am-1:00pm
  • Friday: 9:00am -3:00pm

Prescriptions can be dropped off any time during TFC business hours for pick-up during these times.

There is a $3 filling fee per prescription, with a maximum of $15 per month, regardless of total number of prescriptions. If you cannot afford the filling fee, please speak with our pharmacy team. 

The Free Clinics Pharmacy stocks a variety of generic medications, as well as some name-brand medications.  Brand-name medications tend to focus upon the specific health needs of uninsured persons, especially diabetic medications and supplies, mental health medications, and medications for asthma or other breathing problems.

Current Pharmacy Clients

If you call a refill in to the pharmacy and they do not answer the phone, please leave a message including your name, phone number, and the reason for your call. They will address your refill as soon as possible. Refills typically take at least 3 business days.

Pharmacy is available to eligible residents of Polk, Transylvania, and Henderson Counties.

The Community Pharmacy is staffed by one full-time pharmacist, one part-time pharmacist, 6 volunteer pharmacists, 3 part-time technicians, 12 volunteers, and a team of pharmacy students.   In 2018-19, The Free Clinics dispensed 15,704 medications through our Community Pharmacy and Medi-Find prescription assistance programs, at a value of more than $4,185,000!
