Diabetes Education

Diabetes Education

The Free Clinics offers an intensive Diabetes Education Program, specially focused upon living well with diabetes for low-income, uninsured persons.  Cooking classes are “hands on” and focus on affordable foods, including how to cook healthfully with foods obtained from food pantries.  Medication classes discuss how to obtain low-cost medications as well as the importance of taking one’s medications.

Personalized Education Series

Personalized Diabetes Education classes follow the American Association of Diabetes Educators’ 7 Self-Care Behaviors framework. Classes are taught by experts such as a pharmacist, registered dietitian, or diabetes educator.

Patients should call Pat Sells, diabetes case manager, at 828.697.8422 for more information.
